SMALL ACTS OF RESISTANCE: WEEK 1 - PHASE 1
Small Acts of Resistance began this week and over three days I was joined by twenty-one amazing women from all over Islington, ready to take the leap into applied theatre & creative activism and head towards co-creating #smallactsofresistance!
We worked with applied theatre practice, creative writing & image theatre, as tools to express our ideas, as well as brainstorming ideas around the project's central themes. The participants also drew on lived experiences of how women have been predominantly affected by 'Broken Britain' & the austerity policy imposed on the UK since 2010.
Feedback from the group at this first phase of the project...
"Female solidarity", "Inspiration and freedom", "Empowering" "Community" "Sense of Unity" "meet like-minded women", "place to feel safe & secure", "comradeship", "highlighting the plight of women".
And already powerful creative voices are emerging! I can't wait to see what will happen during the next phase of the project.
