SMALL ACTS OF RESISTANCE NO.1: BAG LADY

"Bag Lady" was one of the Small Acts Of Resistance created on the first version of the project in 2023. Participants engaged with applied theatre and creative activism to respond to and resist the 'violence of austerity', a deliberate political policy inflicted on the UK for the last 14 years, which predominantly affects women, and has had, according to Philip Alston (2019) the UN's Special Rapporteur on Human Rights, 'tragic social consequences' (2019, p.2).

St Mungo's state "Our own data reveals that women’s homelessness is associated with domestic violence, as a third (33%) of our female residents that slept rough said domestic abuse contributed to them becoming homeless". (St Mungos, 2024)
